After last year's run, Hampton University's basketball team eager to get started HU returns its top three scorers — forward Dwight Meikle (13.0 points per game), guard Reginald Johnson (11.9 ppg) and guard Quinton Chievous (10.6 ppg). Joyner said he expects four true freshmen — 6-2 guard Kalin Fisher, 6-5 wing Akim Mitchell and 6-9 forwards Branden Aughburns and Travond Barnes — to contend for immediate playing time.
There’s something else about the roster Joyner likes.
“This is the first year in three or four years we’re not adding anybody in the second semester,” he said. “In the last three years, we’ve brought in a player who was basically a game-changer for us. We had to get used to that player and try to incorporate that into what we do.
